The Forgers are back to give us a wild and fun ride with their family adventures! The hit action-comedy manga series which already had two seasons of TV Anime Adaptations, now gives us an original movie. SPY x FAMILY CODE: WHITE is an original film that can count as a spin-off from its main storyline.
At first, you may think it can be a stand-alone movie to introduce to first-timers in the series. On the contrary, it is recommended to finish the first season of the anime series to know more about the Forgers and other characters’ respective backgrounds. But if you want to start with this movie before diving into the TV Anime series, you are free to do so since the start of the movie does introduce the main four characters; Loid, Yor, Anya, and Bond, for a bit in the first 10 minutes of the movie.
Synopsis
World peace rests in the hands of the Forgers while they take a family vacation which in turn becomes an important mission, at least for Loid. Operation Strix needs to succeed, he has to help Anya win a cooking competition in school by making the principal’s favorite dish. During a winter holiday, Loid takes the Forger family to the dish’s origin, which leads to a dangerous sequence of events threatening world peace. To also put it as of today’s “too long didn’t read” standards, we can summarize the movie in a somewhat “out of context” and a non-spoiler approach.

“Spy x Family Code: White is where Anya must not poop at all costs because world peace (impending war between the East and the West in particular) lies in her poop.”
The Plot
As mentioned earlier, SPY x FAMILY CODE: WHITE is an original movie not seen in its source material, the Spy x Family manga series. Its settings and an introduction of the movie’s antagonist. The flow of the story is its usual approach to how Anya’s shenanigans end up coincidentally being part of Loid’s mission for WISE, the spy agency he is working for.
The Forgers set for Frigis, a region where traditional pastry they must know how to make for Anya’s upcoming cooking competition that will be held at Eden Academy to secure her Stella Star.
As they travel for Frigis, Anya then gets involved in troubles where Yor successfully comes coincidentally to the rescue and still makes Anya doubt that the bad guys “just tripped” because she knows that Yor took care of them because of Yor’s background as an underground assassin.

The movie mainly revolves around questionable scenarios, Yor’s paranoid moments, Loid keeping the family together and Anya being a cute klutz and dork completing the formula of SPY x FAMILY and its success in bringing us smiles and giggles throughout.
My favorite part of the movie is the choreography showcase of Yor’s fight at the climax of the story showcasing the capability of WIT Studio and CLOVERWORKS nowadays with action-packed animations and effects.
The interpretation of Anya’s hallucination on preventing herself from pooping is also a very memorable moment in the movie, how it was conveyed to the audience was out of this world and made the audience laugh throughout the ordeal as the hallucination became more and more ridiculous.

It is notable that even if this is a comedy series, the film still has cinematic moments that are noticeable to a movie enthusiast’s eye. One notable and sweet moment was the last part where Loid meets Yor, Anya, and Bond in a park right after their vacation.
They meet in front of the fountain and the water from the fountain frames the three main characters equally, before the last frames of the movie rolls, the water from the fountain separates Loid from Anya, Yor turns to where Anya approaches Loid, and Yor with her usual sweet smile while they walk together.
It’s a simple yet very nice touch to poetically say that another wall between them was torn down with the bonds they made throughout the movie, at least as to what I interpret in that scene.
Overall Verdict
If you are looking for something that can make you start diving into the series, this can be your gateway to watch the TV Anime series. For those who love the series and want to see more of the Forgers in action, this movie is perfect for you.
SPY x FAMILY CODE: WHITE is a feel-good movie that will give you nothing but good vibes and will let you smile after watching it and that feeling of satisfaction in watching something wholesome and fun. Topping it off with its official soundtrack performed by Higedan or Official??dism’s “SOULSOUP“ and Hoshino Gen’s “Hikari no Ato” which completes the SPY x FAMILY formula and making it a full experience. Overall the movie will leave you with a smile on your face.
