Naoko Yamada, the director of the popular anime series K-On!” will arrive in the Philippines on October 23, and she will offer another poignant musical trip with the original anime feature, “The Colors Within.”
This is about Totsuko, a high school student who can see the “colors” of others. Colors represent bliss, excitement, and serenity, as well as one of her favorite colors. Kimi, a classmate at her school, emits the most stunning hue of all. Totsuko, who does not play an instrument, forms a band with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music fanatic they meet at a used bookstore in a remote area of town.
Music unites them as they practice in an old church on a lonely island, forging friendships and sparking affection. Will they learn their true “colors”?
Following its international premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, the film received widespread critical acclaim. “The Colors Within” also received the Golden Goblet Award for Best Animation Film at the 2024 Shanghai International Film Festival.
