I am thou, Thou art I…
Another “Persona” game has been animated and the hype among those who played the game is strong. Altus, the videogame company responsible for Persona announced during their Christmas Eve event last year that Persona 5 will be having its own anime series that started on April 7, 2018.
The original voice actors from the game reprised their roles in the anime series. Sadly, Isamu Tanonaka, who has already passed on in January of 2010 will be missed as Igor (P3 and P4). Masane Tsukayama who voiced Igor in the P5 game will be host The Velvet Room.
Here are some things that you need to know as you watch Persona 5 this spring.
The genre of the series falls under Action, Supernatural and Fantasy. While the anime has a pinch of Psychology, it doesn’t fall under that category as the beings in the anime are manifestations of the personality of a Persona user. In P5, Personas are formed by individuals who are dealing with feelings of frustration, being wronged or being taken advantage of find themselves in the Metaverse. The personas take the form of a mask that when ripped off, their contract beings and their Persona takes form.
For those of you who haven’t played a Persona game or haven’t seen Persona 3 and 4 – don’t let it discourage you from watching the series as each of the Persona animations are independent and are straightforward in terms of storyline.
