The big names in the gaming industry gathered in a thrilling weekend at SMX Convention Center on October 26-28 for the E-Sports and Electronic Gaming Summit 2018. Besides the homegrown games we used to know, there were new names to make an appearance at the event. One of those was Valofe, bringing in their game Combat Arms: Reloaded to the Philippine base.
Gamers and enthusiasts flocked at the Valofe booth to try out Combat Arms: Reloaded and even join the mini tournament. The tournament was held for all the three days of the event, allowing interested folks to immerse in the game.
“[Combat Arms] is much more modern, [with] more new weapons, new maps, and a lot more you can choose from. There are a lot of skins, and you get to play with other people, for example internationally,” Ms. Kat, the Game Tournament Manager shared with us.
It turns out, the tournament they were having was actually to introduce and prepare Filipino gamers for the release of Combat Arms: Reloaded in Steam.
“Actually this is a dry-run for the Asian server. [So] this is our first in ESGS, so we want more community for… Asian gamers and invite everyone to try CA because it’s new in our country,” Ms. Kat said.
Only having the game in Turkey, Europe, Brazil, and other parts of Latin America, they didn’t expect that a lot will be coming to try out Combat Arms on the day of the event. There were a lot of interested gamers so they were having a waiting list for those who wanted to try out the game.
“Yesterday (Friday), of course we were hoping for a lot of people to come. And today it’s very overwhelming,” Ms. Kat said. “Yesterday [first day] around late lunch time, a lot of people came. We didn’t expect it… All we knew was we’re gonna attend the ESGS… Suddenly, boom, we have a booth and we have people. So overwhelming and we are so happy and we home we’ll be welcomed by the Filipino community.”
It was the second day of the tournament, and people are falling in line, listing their names to try out the game. The mechanics was easy. First to get 30 kills in a every batch wins and qualifies for the finals which happened on the third day of ESGS. For the first day and the elimination round of the 3rd day, it was 15 kills. For the finals, first to have 45 kills wins the prize.
“Our prize yesterday [first day] for the finals, we gave the champion PHP 3,000 and PHP 2,000 and PHP 1,000 (for the runners up). For consolation prizes we give them lanyards and shirts.”
The prize for the grand champion was PHP 15,000.
For those who didn’t want to participate in the tournament but wanted to try out the game, there was a table with a few computer units. Interested gamers are free to use it to experience the game.
“We want them to feel the game. So we can know if they’re gonna like the game or not before starting the tournament,” Ms. Kat said.
The Valofe team was very hopeful with the welcome they received on ESGS. When the time comes, they even look forward in having big events, such as tournaments for Combat Arms: Reloaded in the country.
“We’re very positive. We know FPS, right? So, it won’t die easily. We know— Valofe knows, we’re gonna be having a big event. I’m just keeping positive,” Ms. Kat said as she shared her thoughts.
Filipinos are known to be fans of FPS games such as Combat Arms: Reloaded. Hopefully, this game will make its name in the Filipino gaming community.
Combat Arms: Reloaded is already on Steam on October 31. Check it out and experience the game.
