With all the emerging Japanese-inspired idol groups and bands in today’s Otaku Community, it’s only natural that one will take interest in a Japanese Music Festival. And thus, NCPH gave us Otaku Musika Festival, a weekend full of fandom music that any music-loving Filipino otaku would love attending to.
At the weekend of September 22-23, fans gathered with their friends, their instruments, and their lightsticks at Tiendesita’s, Pasig City. It might have rained a few times that day but the weather did not hinder the attendees to witness the new event unfold.
The stage was set for everyone who was willing to join. NCPH held their registrations beforehand, now all they gotta do is rock and dance their hearts out as the audience cheers for them. It was an open venue, even non-fans may enjoy and listen to the festivity.
On the first day, idols graced the stage with their dances and smiles as they performed. The solo karaoke contest also took place at the beginning of the program. Crowds started to form as the time goes on, until it’s the awaited battle of the bands.
Aside from Japanese songs, bands were also allowed to sing an OPM song for their set. The music bands played varied from hardcore, to ballad, even a rock version of Start Dash where all the Love Livers lost it and waved their lightsticks in front of the stage.
The event may be all music, but a few cosplayers can be spotted aside from those who joined the contest.
There was even a band full of rocker platelets.
Fandom merchandise were also available for purchase near the entrances to the hall venues.
Otaku Musika Festival is one of Naruto Cosplayers Philippines (NCPH)’s free events. It took place at Tiendesita’s, Pasig City on September 22 – 23, catering to otaku musicians.
