Pinoy Otaku Festival promised a summer play time this year, having the theme “Asobu” for their 2019 run. It was indeed a fun 3-day playtime as different kinds of anime fans gathered together to take part in the event.
The convention known to hold their events in a different area than most of the other anime-related events around the Metro. Usually, these events are typically held at the Megatrade Halls, SMX, and other places in the center and south of the Metro. But POF aims to reach the fans who reside in the northernmost part of the region as well.
Pinoy Otaku Festival is an anime convention organized by Naruto Cosplayers Philippines through their events management arm Red Cloud Interactive under Master Pogi, sir David D’Angelo.
The event was held on May 17 – 19, 2019 at Robinsons Novaliches, Quezon City, a 3 day event with now an entrance fee of 100 Php. It is an event that caters to the heartstrings of the fan community, through its program that caters to all general aspects of the community. POF is known for having their own versions of anime quiz shows, Karaoke battles, and topic panel discussions– which is one of their unique points. It’s event experience that is too general yet too effective to all of its patrons and here are some of our thoughts experienced by our correspondent, Zachary!
Overall and personalized event programs:
Their program lists are consists of personalized touch and adaptations of game shows, panel programs tackling different hot topics, and contests that are unique in nature. A good deal for a hundred peso event as you will be treated with all of your money’s worth. Different guests were present– from Gloco to idol groups like AOS49, CH4U, Aidoru Sozai, Japh Dolls PH and much more while not paying a huge amount of money for a greater service and experience ripe for everyone. All categories have been met that regardless of what kind of anime fan you are, you will find something to enjoy.
Also to mention, the event is the awarding platform of their online poll program, The Otaku Choice Awards. It’s a public poll award recognizing the Japanese fandom and local anime community wherein series, platforms, and organizations were selectively nominated and voted by the online community where Anime Corner Philippines won as the Best Organization.
Generic Layout
The layout is typically normal within a good reason. The event space can accommodate decent crowds perfect for its target audience, foot traffic is in par, and it is not crowded. It is not too impressive to mention but the best part is it is effective.
Outstanding Guest-lists
This is what makes this event better: their guest lineup!
They have managed to diversify their guest lists, panelists, and performers, giving spotlight for all rising stars to spread their talent while giving platform to these seasoned guests to be part of a new type of event that really caters the culture of anime and pop-culture in the country. We never feel anything like this anywhere else and what more if they have managed to expand to be part of the mainstream event?
Dedicated Team
It is worth mentioning and praising perhaps that the Red Cloud Interactive has shown great deal of dedication to make this event experience as rewarding as possible with their utmost passion on choosing the event space, the program set-lists, and their online presence. It is noteworthy that their specialized treatment on this really gives a connection between organizers and fans, something that is quite common in some major events but nevertheless, they did it quite well.
To conclude, POF2019 : Asobu is an all around event, catering to all kinds of fans, giving them the promised fun playtime for everyone. It is an event built with genuine passion and love that really makes all of its attendees get attached on the event, giving their money’s worth. To finalize things all up, POF was a very fascinating con I’ve gone through. With its small venue, they manage to entertain its attendees and make it enjoyable for them– truly, a blast!
