September does not only mean Christmas is near. To Anime fans, September also means Best of Anime, one of the most awaited conventions every year. On September 9 and 10, the SMX Halls of Mall of Asia were once again filled with anime fans, cosplayers, and attendees for the big event.
Since Best of Anime is one of the biggest cons, there are many people roaming inside and outside the halls, taking photos with the cosplayers and their friends. There were even big cosplay groups such as the Akatsuki group and a group of Boku no Hero Academia Cosplayers doing the “Baby Shark.”
Inside the halls were the fandom merchandise booths where attendees can get merch of their favorite series or fandoms. There was also the famous marriage booth where attendees can finally get “hitched” with their “waifus” or “husbandos.” Sponsors’ booths like Animax were also present inside the halls.

The stage was always packed with people with the program. There was the Battle of the Bands, and the Interschool Cosplay Competition. The continuation of the Anime Sing Off also happened on the stage.

What hyped the attendees were the guests and international cosplayers. Starmarie entertained fans as they performed on stage. Cosplayers Reika, Yuegene Faye, and Lui & Hana also took over the stage in their cosplays to entertain their fans. They were also the ones who awarded the winners.
Best of Anime also invited the band Spyair, who gave animes such as Haikyuu and Gintama their opening theme songs. Spyair had their meet and greet session on day one (Sept. 9). On the second day, they held a concert in one of the halls. You can sense how they literally shook everyone with their performance even if you’re not there.
The event ended with the Death Note: Light Up The New World showing in the stage.
Best of Anime, or BOA for short, is one of the biggest anime conventions in the country, having big guests such as international cosplayers and performers each year.
