A Year-Ender Con: CosMatsuri 2017

Filled with Christmas money, anime and cosplay fans- young and old, ventured to the best and biggest year-ender they could ever have: Cosplay Matsuri 2017.

Held by CosplayPH, Cosplay Matsuri held its annual three-day convention in the 2nd floor halls of the SMX Convention Center in Mall of Asia on December 28 to 30.

Most attendees arrived in the afternoon as the halls weren’t filled with people in the morning. As the day went by, con-goers and cosplayers alike filled in and out the halls, even on the ground floor of the SMX Convention Center.

Ninja Media PH had its usual photo booth near the entrance of the hall. This year, they had a backdrop prepared for the cosplayers: a temple with sakura trees perfect for that shoujo anime scene.

There were fun activities as well such as the wishing booth wherein attendees may write their wishes for the coming year on sticky notes and attach them on the wall. Hopes of the attendees were fun to read as they came in different kinds. From the quite serious and hopeful ones like, “may 2018 be a better year” to funny and honest ones like “may senpai notice me next year,” “please make my ship canon,” and “for my waifu to be real” were present.

Attendees also got the chance to experience sumo wrestling by wearing sumo suits and fight-o on the area just beside the wishing booth.

The iconic tori gate and bridge were also present, standing tall in the middle of the halls. The area was always filled with cosplayers and con-goers for their Cos Matsuri photos.

Happenings in the stage were, of course, the cosplay competition wherein cosplayers got to showcase and show off their costumes while acting as their characters.

And who would even want to miss the auction? Especially this year when Animax had their life-sized Boku no Hero Academia standees auctioned.

Cosplay Matsuri is one of CosplayPH’s conventions, held every end of the year in SMX Halls. We surely can’t wait for 2018’s conventions.
