A Heartfelt and Genuine Moment with Shuka Saito: An Exclusive Interview

The Philippine concert stage has been graced with the voice actress of Watanabe You from Love Live! Sunshine!! as she debuts in Cosplay.PH‘s JAM Concert in Cosplay Carnival 2025, which happened on March 23, 2025.

Shuka Saito, a Japanese singer and voice actress notably known for her other roles as Kawai Rika in Wonder Egg Priority, Fukumoto Miki in Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku, Mayama Asaka/”Sasanqua” in ORESUKI, KMS Felix Schultz in Azur Lane, Takeda Shingen in Samurai Maiden, and Blonney in Reverse: 1999.

As Filipino fans anticipated her performance for the first time that night, Setsu-Ani along with other Cosplay.PH‘s media partners were given a chance to sit down with her for an exclusive interview where she shared her dreams, future projects, fun facts, and even the thought of living here in the Philippines. Passion as an artist, dreams, and future plans

Question: What do you love most about being a singer and a voice actress?

Shuka Saito: “Part of [being] a voice actress and singer is expressing. It’s the expression, so expressing it through songs and then expressing the feelings of the characters I am performing as a voice actress.”

On this part, we had a chance to ask her a question that fans are curious about. Our correspondent Miko was the one assigned for this particular interview.

M: Good afternoon!

Shuka Saito: *Giggles* Hi!

M: My name is Mikko from Setsu Ani, and I have a question. Are there any dream roles or projects you’d like to work on in the future?

Shuka Saito: “My dream is to sing or perform [in every…] or even perform, and convey my songs in every part of the world.”

Question: Is there a fun fact about yourself that your fans might not know?

Shuka Saito: “My image is usually where I bring out a lot of energy for my fans to make them energetic as well. But I am the opposite of it, and I want to lie and laze around a lot.” *gestures sleeping on the table*

Question: We would just like to ask you, what is your pre-show routine?

Shuka Saito: “Everytime I perform, I’m actually really nervous, so when I do not have enough confidence, I try to pray to God for more success.” *shows everyone what she looks like when she prays*

Question: What is something that you do every day to maintain your healthy lifestyle?

Shuka Saito: *laughs* “I take supplements everyday.” *gestures a bottoms up holding an imaginary bottle of suppliments*

Question: What kind of food makes you feel energized and motivated?

Shuka Saito: “I like to eat curry, curry rice! It brings me energy! It’s delicious!” *happily gestures eating*

The Philippine experience, and to her fans

Question: How did you feel when you found out that you have a lot of fans in the Philippines and that you have been invited to perform here in this country?

Shuka Saito: “I was very surprised when I got the invitation! Actually, a lot of Filipino fans wanted me to come here in the Philippines. Then when I got the invitation I was really happy! It was my dream and I’m happy that it came true.”

Question: Do you have a message you’d like to share with your fans?

Shuka Saito: “I just got here yesterday and I got to go around a bit and saw a lot of things! I even thought of wanting to live here.” *laughs*

“After this, I am very happy that I will be performing for the first time, and I hope that everyone would have a lot of energy when I perform.”
