We have once again returned to the quarters of the Megatrade Halls 1-3 at SM Megamall last August 19-20, 2023, for the Otaku Expo Tanabata Festival!
Setsu-Ani is pleased and grateful to be one of Otaku Expo‘s Official Media partners for this year continuing from last year’s Tanabata Festival. A lot of nostalgic feelings have overflowed to us from the long but fast-paced lines starting from the ground floor all the way up to the Megatrade Halls, to having a comfortable atmosphere that you can only find at Ozine or Otaku Expo-related events that are held over at the SM Megamall.

As we go to the entrance of Hall 2 we are greeted by the booths of the event’s sponsor which includes: Razer Gold, Japan Foundation, Mineski Slash, and Fuwa Fuwa, as well as the Exhibitors Area where you can find your favorite anime goods, the Ragnarok Origin Online Cafe, #OzineCares Area, and the Main stage where we can see all the main events happening for both days.
Over to the right, we are in the zone of Hall 3 which is where we can find the Artists, Merchants, and Cosplayers Alley where you can shop from your favorite artists and merchants as well as interact with some of your favorite cosplayers. Here we got a chance to interview Saxe during Day 2 at her booth located at Hall 3.

Lastly, we go over to Hall 1 where we can find the Photoshoot area dedicated to our photographers taking pictures of our lovely and awesome cosplayers, the Tanabata area where we can experience tons of activities which include: Goldfish Scooping, Balloon Scooping, Target Shooting as well a Kimono rental service which you can feel the vibes of the event even more and lastly, the Cosplayer Guest meet and greet area.
For this year’s Tanabata Festival, we have five amazing special Guest cosplayers which are comprised of South Korean-based cosplayers, Tomia Cosplay and Sansin, Hong Kong-based cosplayer and returning guest from Otaku Expo Reload 2016, TBS Cosplay (Tsubasa), and our very own cosplayers Charess, and Hakao.

Setsu-Ani is grateful to all five guest cosplayers as we were able to get some beautiful and amazing shots of them during both days, except for Charess with her Yoimiya cosplay during Day 1 due to the jam-packed of fans lining up at her meet and greet booth.
Overall, Setsu-Ani is once again truly grateful for this opportunity Ozine has given to us in covering one of their main events in the middle of the year. The nostalgia that this year’s Tanabata Festival has reminded us of the coziness that the past Ozine-related events held at SM Megmall’s Megatrade Halls, that said any Ozine or Otaku Expo-related events are not the same if it’s not held at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall.
